What are the differences between W1, W2, W4, and W5 materials?

W1 is fully zinc-plated carbon steel, suitable for indoor, dry applications. W2 features a stainless steel band and housing but has a zinc-plated carbon steel screw. W4 is made entirely of AISI 304 stainless steel, offering excellent corrosion resistance for outdoor or industrial use. Why are German-style clamps safer for rubber hoses than American-style?

American-style clamps have holes cut into the band. Under high pressure, the hose material can push up into these slots, risking damage to the hose. German-style clamps have a smooth inner surface and raised edges, allowing the band to sit flat against the hose without cutting into it.
