The maximum operating temperature depends primarily on the polymer insert. Standard Nylon 66 inserts operate reliably up to 120°C (248°F). For high-temperature industrial environments exceeding this limit, we offer customized ODM options featuring glass-reinforced nylon or alternative polymers like PVDF, which maintain locking tension up to 180°C.
While Nyloc nuts can technically be reused if the nylon insert remains undamaged, doing so is generally not recommended for critical structural or high-vibration applications. Each installation slightly wears the nylon insert, reducing the prevailing torque. For safety-critical systems, we recommend replacing the nut after each disassembly to ensure reliable locking performance.
Though BSW (British Standard Whitworth) and UNC (Unified National Coarse) threads share similar pitches in several sizes, they are not interchangeable. BSW threads have a 55-degree thread angle and rounded crests and roots, whereas UNC threads utilize a 60-degree thread angle with flat crests and roots. Mismating them can strip threads and lead to joint failure.
We provide a comprehensive range of surface coatings to meet diverse operating environments, including clear/yellow zinc plating, hot-dip galvanization, black oxide, organic Dacromet coatings, and zinc-nickel finishes. These coatings are designed to achieve salt spray resistance ratings from 96 hours up to more than 1,000 hours.
