Poultry environments contain high levels of ammonia from bird waste. Ammonia forms weak alkaline solutions when combined with humidity, which accelerates zinc loss on galvanized wire. SUS304 contains at least 18% Chromium and 8% Nickel, creating a passive oxide layer that resists ammonia, uric acid, and aggressive cleaning sanitizers, extending the mesh lifespan.
For operations located within 5 kilometers of saltwater coastlines, or facilities that use chlorine-based cleaning solutions, SUS316 is recommended. It includes 2% Molybdenum, which protects against chloride-induced pitting corrosion. SUS316L is used when the mesh must be welded directly to support frames, as its lower carbon content prevents carbide precipitation during welding.
