Hose clamps are primarily designed to secure hoses over fittings. They prevent fluid, gas, or air leaks by creating uniform radial pressure around the connection point. They are widely used in automotive systems, industrial manufacturing, agriculture, and household piping.
Stainless steel hose clamps offer superior resistance to corrosion, rust, and harsh environmental conditions compared to standard carbon steel. This makes them ideal for marine applications, chemical processing, outdoor layouts, and high-moisture environments.
Single ear clamps provide a fast, concentrated seal on standard hoses. Double ear clamps offer a wider clamping range and increased holding force, making them suitable for sealing materials that are prone to thermal expansion or contraction.
To choose the correct size, install the hose onto the fitting and measure the outside diameter (OD) of the assembly. Select a clamp whose adjustment range places your measured OD near the middle of its min/max diameter capability.
Standard screw-type or worm-gear hose clamps can be loosened, removed, and reused if they remain undamaged. However, single and double ear clamps are designed for permanent installation and must be cut off and replaced once removed.
