Engineering Specifications: Series 9216 - 9220 Staples

Pneumatic staples in the 92 series are widely utilized in heavy-duty furniture building, cabinetry, subflooring, and crating. As an established ODM supplier, Sinsun maintains strict quality standards. This includes ensuring wire shear strength averages 1,000+ MPa and keeping dimensional tolerances within ±0.02 mm.

Staple Model Leg Length (mm) Leg Length (inch) Crown Width (mm) Wire Gauge / Dimensions Common Materials Standard Finish Options
9216 16.0 mm 5/8" 8.8 mm - 9.0 mm 18 Gauge (1.25 × 1.0 mm) High-Tensile Carbon Steel, SS304, SS316 Bright, Electro-Galvanized, HDG
9218 18.0 mm 11/16" 8.8 mm - 9.0 mm 18 Gauge (1.25 × 1.0 mm) High-Tensile Carbon Steel, SS304, SS316 Bright, Electro-Galvanized, Vinyl Coated
9220 20.0 mm 3/4" 8.8 mm - 9.0 mm 18 Gauge (1.25 × 1.0 mm) High-Tensile Carbon Steel, SS304, SS316 Bright, Electro-Galvanized, Yellow Zinc
Chisel Point Design

The staple tips are engineered with consistent symmetrical chisel cuts. This profile minimizes wood splitting and ensures optimal leg divergence within dense timber substrates.

Superior Collation Adhesion

We utilize specialized hot-melt compounds to formulate the adhesive strips. This ensures the staple strips resist breaking due to impact during shipping or tool recoil.

Corrosion Shielding

Our galvanized options undergo uniform zinc electroplating. They are tested to withstand over 120 hours of salt spray exposure without developing red rust.

Global Sourcing Demands & Woodworking Trends

The Shift Toward Pneumatic Tool Automation

Global furniture manufacturers and logistics packaging firms are increasingly transitioning to automated assembly systems. This machinery requires fasteners with precise dimensions and consistent structural integrity. Variances in wire diameter or crown width can lead to tool jams, which increases downtime and maintenance costs. Sinsun's 9216, 9218, and 9220 staples undergo strict dimensional quality checks to ensure smooth feed cycles in high-volume production lines.

Rising Demand for Low-Carbon Steel & Stainless Alloys

Environmental policies and strict building codes are driving demand for fasteners with improved durability. Suppliers must provide options that withstand moisture and volatile chemicals in treated lumber. Our ODM facilities process high-tensile SAE1008 steel wire alongside premium SUS304 and SUS316 stainless grades, helping clients meet regional compliance standards.

Optimizing Supply Chain Strategies

In modern industrial sourcing, supplier reliability is key. Fluctuations in raw material costs and maritime shipping delays require manufacturers to have stable capacity. Sinsun manages these risks through direct purchasing agreements with steel producers, like XING TAI Steel, and by maintaining buffer inventory in our 12,000 m² smart warehouse. This ensures we can provide consistent supply schedules for large distributors.

Manufacturing Control

End-to-End Quality Management

Our quality control process starts at raw wire processing and continues through to final batch inspection. Every production stage is monitored to ensure the fasteners perform reliably under demanding conditions.

1. Spheroidizing Annealing & Drawing

We source wire rod coils from established steel producers like XING TAI Steel. We process the metal in gas-fired spheroidizing annealing furnaces to ensure a uniform microstructure. This step helps optimize the wire's ductility and strength before it undergoes cold forming.

2. Cold Forming & Precision Collation

Using cold-heading machinery, the wire is flattened and formed into staple profiles. The legs are sheared to precise lengths (9216 = 16mm, 9218 = 18mm, 9220 = 20mm). Afterward, automated adhesive machines collate the staples into straight strips using high-impact resins.

3. Heat Treatment & Tempering

In 2025, we commissioned four heat treatment lines. This equipment allows us to temper high-carbon steel staples to a core hardness of HRC 28-32. This provides the toughness required to drive staples into engineered hardwoods without buckling.

4. Quality Lab Validation

Before packaging, each batch is tested by our technicians. We measure dimensional tolerances, inspect the coating thickness, evaluate pull-out resistance, and perform salt-spray testing. This ensures all shipments conform to our client specifications.

Strategic Roadmap

2025-2030 Fastening Innovation Roadmap

Eco-Friendly Coatings

We are expanding research into chromium-free conversion coatings. This helps reduce environmental footprint while providing corrosion resistance that matches standard galvanization.

Process Automation

We plan to integrate automated visual inspection systems on our primary forming lines. This technology monitors wire alignment in real-time to prevent minor cosmetic defects.

Expanded Smart Storage

We are upgrading our logistics management software. This system coordinates with our 18,000-pallet warehouse to streamline order processing and shipping documentation.

F.A.Q.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the differences between 9216, 9218, and 9220 staples?

The differences lie in leg length. The 9216 model has a 16 mm leg, 9218 is 18 mm, and 9220 is 20 mm. All share the same 18-gauge wire (1.25 × 1.0 mm) and a crown width of 8.8 mm to 9.0 mm. Sourcing managers choose based on substrate thickness to ensure proper penetration depth.

Which finishes offer the best rust prevention?

For outdoor or high-humidity environments, we recommend Stainless Steel (grade 304 or 316) or Hot-Dip Galvanized staples. For standard indoor assembly, electro-galvanized or yellow zinc coatings provide reliable protection at a lower cost.

What packaging options are available for ODM orders?

Sinsun Hardware offers customizable packaging. Our services include retail boxes, bulk export cartons, and wood pallet stacking. We also support custom print branding and provide 3D packaging design previews prior to shipping.

How does Sinsun maintain consistency in staple dimensions?

We use Taiwanese production tooling and German-engineered cold forming machinery. By checking wire dimensions and managing heat treatment processes in-house, we limit leg width and length variances to ±0.02 mm.
