Belleville spring washers, commonly referenced as conical spring washers or disc springs (DIN 2093), are uniquely designed to resolve critical bolting challenges in heavy-load, high-vibration, and high-temperature environments. Unlike traditional flat washers that serve only to distribute loads, Belleville washers function as highly efficient spring components that dynamically compensate for physical variations within the joint.
The conical shape allows these springs to support exceptionally high axial loads with relatively small deflections. Compared to typical helical coil springs, a Belleville washer stack delivers massive force output in a fraction of the physical envelope, making it indispensable in modern compact industrial assemblies.
Under cyclic temperatures (such as high-pressure pipe flanges or electrical busbars), metals expand and contract at different rates. This thermal breathing often leads to bolt relaxation and joint failure. Belleville spring washers expand and contract dynamically, keeping a consistent load on the joint to prevent leaks and structural degradation.
By varying the ratio of cone height (h0) to thickness (t), engineers can customize load-deflection profiles. From a linear spring curve to a regressive or even flat (zero spring-rate) curve, these washers can be tailored to maintain constant load regardless of joint deflection or settling.
Our manufacturing prowess is driven by German-imported multi-station cold heading machinery, precision Taiwanese toolings, and an experienced team of engineering specialists. Every single washer and fastener undergoes 12+ stringent quality checks to assure outstanding mechanical properties and surface finishes:
Precision stamping and finishing methods maintain a surface roughness of Ra ≤ 0.4μm, eliminating micro-grooves and structural defects that initiate stress fractures and premature structural failure.
Engineered anti-corrosion barrier coatings, such as zinc-nickel plating, mechanical galvanizing, and specialized DACROMET/Geomet coatings, deliver over 1,000+ hours of salt spray exposure resistance (ASTM B117).
Our in-house continuous atmosphere heat-treatment lines guarantee dynamic mechanical strengths of 1,000+ MPa and consistent hardness parameters within the HRC 28-32 range (customizable up to HRC 42-52 for carbon steels).
Critical dimensions like internal diameter (d1), external diameter (d2), and overall height (l0) are strictly limited within a tolerance limit of ±0.02mm to ensure perfect compatibility in complex mechanical stacks.
From our founding as a specialized regional manufacturer to becoming a global partner in advanced industrial hardware, explore our development milestones. Each step has increased our production capacity and improved our quality control systems.
Sinsun established its production base in Northern China with a primary focus on specialized self-tapping screw designs and simple washers, setting the foundation for high-quality fastener manufacturing.
We expanded internationally by creating our specialized Export Department. High-precision hardware products began shipping to builders and industrial projects across global markets.
We installed four spheroidizing annealing furnaces and in-house wire drawing systems, allowing us to control quality starting from the raw steel rod stage (Xingtai Steel).
We upgraded our production floor with multi-station cold heading machines imported from Germany and precision Taiwanese stamping tools to meet strict European specifications.
Our annual output reached 36,000 tons, exporting over 1,100 containers to major distributors and manufacturing networks worldwide.
We constructed a 1,200 sqm ready-stock facility within our 12,000 sqm warehouse, ensuring faster lead times for global orders.
We installed four high-capacity atmosphere-controlled heat treatment lines. This in-house capacity guarantees structural consistency and reliable delivery times.
At Sinsun Hardware, our quality control begins at the source. We partner with leading raw steel suppliers, such as Xingtai Steel, to select precise steel chemistries. This strict control over raw materials ensures consistent results during subsequent production phases.
Once received, steel wire rods undergo spheroidizing annealing in our controlled-atmosphere gas furnaces. This step softens the raw steel, optimizing the microstructure for high-precision stamping and cold-heading. This internal control prevents internal stresses that can cause premature structural cracking in heavy-duty applications.
By managing wire-drawing, cold forming, stamping, heat-treatment, and surface coating within our facility, we reduce external supply chain risks. This vertical integration allows us to keep reliable lead times, lower transport overheads, and guarantee consistent structural properties across every production run.

Belleville spring washers are utilized across various industries to manage bolting pre-tension. Their dynamic load retention properties protect critical installations from premature wear and joint failures.
Tower structural bolts face high dynamic forces and wind-shear vibrations. Belleville disc springs maintain bolt tension over thousands of rotation cycles, extending maintenance intervals on offshore wind platforms.
Copper and aluminum busbars experience heat cycles during load changes, which can lead to bolt relaxation. Belleville washers expand and contract dynamically, preventing hotspots and electrical failure.
Fluctuations in process temperature and pressure can cause gasket relaxation. Our disc springs maintain constant seal pressure, helping prevent hazardous chemical leaks.
Railway track components face repeated dynamic impacts from passing trains. Our high-fatigue Belleville washers absorb these shock loads, keeping rail plates securely anchored.
As demanding applications require stronger and more durable components, Sinsun Hardware's metallurgical and design teams focus on ongoing technical development:
We are expanding production of high-temperature superalloy disc springs using materials like Inconel 718, Inconel X750, and 17-7 PH Stainless Steel to maintain load holding capacity at temperatures above 500°C.
By simulating load conditions and stress distributions under cyclic loading, our technical team optimizes disc profiles before production, reducing testing cycles and improving fatigue life.
We are shifting away from traditional acid zinc plating processes to advanced mechanical coatings like Geomet 500. This protects against hydrogen embrittlement while eliminating hexavalent chromium hazards.
Our products conform to standard regulatory regimes, ensuring reliable performance in demanding environments:

Technical answers to key engineering queries regarding disc spring calculations, configurations, and field applications.
Stacking in series (conical orientations facing opposite directions) increases the total deflection of the stack in proportion to the number of washers, while keeping the overall force equivalent to a single washer. Stacking in parallel (nesting washers facing the same direction) increases the total force capacity in proportion to the number of washers, while keeping the deflection limit equivalent to a single washer. Engineers often combine both (parallel-series stacks) to achieve specific load-deflection profiles.
Hydrogen embrittlement is a primary failure mode in high-strength carbon steel washers. To manage this risk, we control our chemical cleaning times, use mechanical plating techniques when appropriate, and perform post-coating baking cycles at 200°C within 4 hours of electroplating to bake out trapped hydrogen.
While standard carbon steel springs function reliably up to 120°C, high-temperature environments require alloy steels. Chromium-Vanadium alloys (like 50CrV4) are rated up to 250°C. For extreme high-temperature or chemical applications (up to 600°C), we recommend nickel-chromium superalloys such as Inconel 718 or Inconel X750.
We use high-rigidity progressive stamping tools sourced from Taiwan, combined with optical measurement systems. This allows us to maintain critical dimensional tolerances within ±0.02mm, ensuring consistent performance in assembled stacks.
In addition to Belleville washers, Sinsun Hardware manufactures a wide range of industrial fasteners. These products undergo the same rigorous testing protocols to support demanding field installations.
